Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Human Oncostatin M. Anti-Human Oncostatin M-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and then biotinylated.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect human Oncostatin M by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.25–1.0 µg/mL of this antibody is required. This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Human Oncostatin M (500-P30) as a capture antibody, allows detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of recombinant hOncostatin M.

Western Blot:
To detect human Oncostatin M by Western Blot analysis, this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. Used with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for recombinant hOncostatin M is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane, under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

Oncostatin M (OSM) is a growth and differentiation factor involved in the regulation of neurogenesis, osteogenesis, and hematopoiesis. Produced by activated T cells, monocytes, and Kaposi’s sarcoma cells, OSM can exert both stimulatory and inhibitory effects on cell proliferation. It stimulates the proliferation of fibroblasts, smooth muscle cells, and Kaposi’s sarcoma cells, but inhibits the growth of some normal and tumor cell lines. OSM also promotes cytokine release (e.g., IL-6, GM-CSF, G-CSF) from endothelial cells and enhances the expression of low-density lipoprotein receptors in hepatoma cells. OSM shares structural and functional similarities with LIF, IL-6, and CNTF.
