Target Information
Potassium channels are involved in various cellular processes such as maintenance of action potential, muscle contraction, hormone secretion, osmotic regulation, and ion flow.
The KCNK4 gene encodes a member of the potassium channel superfamily with two pore-forming P domains. The protein forms homodimers and acts as an outwardly rectifying channel, primarily expressed in neural tissues, and is activated by membrane stretch and polyunsaturated fatty acids.
