Target Information

SUV3 is a major helicase involved in mitochondrial RNA metabolism and a component of the mitochondrial degradosome (mtEXO) complex.
It degrades 3′ overhang double-stranded RNA in a 3′-to-5′ direction, ATP-dependent.
Functions include:

• Degradation of non-coding mitochondrial transcripts (MT-ncRNA) and tRNA-like molecules
• Unwinding dsDNA, dsRNA, and RNA/DNA heteroduplexes
• RNA surveillance and stability regulation in mitochondria
• Involvement in recombination and chromatin maintenance
• Potential protection against apoptosis
