Target Information

SUPV3L1 is a major helicase involved in mitochondrial RNA metabolism and a component of the mitochondrial degradosome (mtEXO) complex.
It degrades 3′ overhang double-stranded RNA in a 3′-to-5′ direction in an ATP-dependent manner.
Functions include:

• Degradation of non-coding mitochondrial transcripts (MT-ncRNA) and tRNA-like molecules
• ATPase and ATP-dependent helicase activity on dsDNA, dsRNA, and RNA/DNA heteroduplexes
• RNA surveillance in mitochondria, regulating mRNA stability and removal of aberrant transcripts
• Potential roles in recombination, chromatin maintenance, and protection from apoptosis
• Associates with mitochondrial DNA
