Target Information
Type I interferons (IFN-α and IFN-β) are structurally and functionally related proteins induced by viral infection or double-stranded RNA. They confer an antiviral state in cells and compete for a common cell surface receptor. Immune interferon (IFN-γ) binds to a distinct receptor. IFN-α/β receptor (IFNAR) consists of two alternatively spliced transcripts, IFNAR1 and IFNAR2, both involved in signal transduction and ligand binding.
