Product Specific Information
V14/2 antibody has been demonstrated to exclusively recognize CCR5 (CD195) phosphorylated at Ser337.
Target Information
Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and related viruses require coreceptors, in addition to CD4, to infect target cells. CCR5, along with CXCR4, CCR3, CCR2b, and CCR8, functions as a key coreceptor for macrophage- and dual-tropic HIV-1 strains, facilitating viral fusion and entry into human white blood cells.
CCR5 is essential for infection by HIV-1, HIV-2, and SIV. Beta-chemokines such as RANTES, MIP-alpha, and MIP-beta act as CCR5 ligands and inhibit M-tropic HIV-1 infection. CCR5 interacts with the CD4-gp120 complex of HIV, leading to membrane fusion and viral entry.
CCR5 mRNA is expressed in lymphoid organs and monocytes.
