Product Specific Information

This erongr2 monoclonal antibody recognizes mouse early growth response 2 (Egr2, Krox-20), a zinc finger-containing transcription factor important in T cell and NKT cell development.
Egr2 is mainly expressed in the thymus and nervous system, and upregulated in T cells following TCR-crosslinking. It is also upregulated in non-adherent mouse splenocytes after stimulation with PMA and ionomycin.
Egr2 is believed to antagonize T cell activation and promote apoptosis. The erongr2 antibody modestly stains a subset of T and B cells in freshly isolated spleen cells and does not cross-react with Egr3 (based on immunoblot analysis).

Applications Tested: Intracellular flow cytometry of stimulated mouse splenocytes using the Foxp3/Transcription Factor Staining Buffer Set (Product #00-5523-00).
Recommended use ≤ 0.25 µg/test (in 100 µL final volume). Cell number can range from 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.
Excitation: 488–561 nm; Emission: 578 nm; compatible with Blue, Green, and Yellow-Green lasers.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.

Target Information

The EGR2 gene encodes the early growth response 2 protein, a transcription factor that binds DNA and regulates gene expression.
EGR2 is essential for myelin formation and maintenance, supporting efficient nerve impulse transmission.
Mutations in EGR2 can lead to Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 1D or 4E, and severe infantile forms such as Dejerine-Sottas syndrome.
