Target Information
BCLAF1 (BCL2-Associated Transcription Factor 1) is an intracellular, death-promoting transcriptional repressor that interacts with BCL2 family proteins. It contains basic leucine zipper (bZIP) and MYB DNA-binding domains. In apoptotic cells, BCLAF1 localizes to dot-like nuclear structures and redistributes near the nuclear envelope. Overexpression induces apoptosis, which can be suppressed by BCL2 co-expression. Also known as BTF, it triggers a proapoptotic signal and is primarily expressed in skeletal muscle.
