This P1H5 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD49b (Integrin alpha 2). Integrins are cell surface receptors mediating adhesion between cells and extracellular matrix. They form heterodimers of alpha and beta subunits, expressed on hematopoietic, non-hematopoietic, and cancer cells.
Integrin alpha 2 forms a complex with beta 1 subunit (α2β1 integrin), binding type I collagen and laminin. This complex may suppress metastasis and participate in T cell costimulation via MAPK and PI3K pathways.

The P1H5 antibody inhibits fibroblast and platelet adhesion to collagen. Crossblocking studies show P1H5 and eBioY418 recognize different epitopes.

Applications Tested: Pre-titrated, tested on normal human peripheral blood cells at 5 µL (0.125 µg)/test.
A test is defined as the amount of antibody staining cells in 100 µL volume (10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).

Target Information

CD49b (Integrin alpha 2) is a 150 kD glycoprotein forming heterodimeric complex VLA-2 (α2β1) with CD29 (Integrin beta 1).
VLA-2 acts as a receptor for laminin, collagen, and fibronectin, activating intracellular signaling pathways.
It plays roles in VEGF-induced angiogenesis, adhesion, and lymphocyte activation.

CD49b is expressed on NK cells, NK-T cells, monocytes, platelets, epithelial cells, and subsets of CD4⁺ T cells (including Tr1 regulatory cells co-expressing LAG-3).
