Target Information
ITAGV encodes integrin alpha chain V. Integrins are heterodimeric integral membrane proteins composed of an alpha and a beta chain. The alpha V chain undergoes post-translational cleavage to yield disulfide-linked heavy and light chains, combining with multiple integrin beta chains (β1, β3, β5, β6, β8) to form distinct integrins.
Among these, alpha V beta 3 integrin—known as the Vitronectin receptor (VNR)—is well-studied. Integrins facilitate both adhesion and signal transduction. The ITGB3 protein product forms the beta 3 chain, which pairs with alpha IIb in platelets, contributing to cell adhesion and signaling processes.
