Target Information
MED13 encodes a component of the mediator complex (also known as TRAP, SMCC, DRIP, or ARC), a transcriptional coactivator complex required for the expression of nearly all genes. The mediator complex interacts with transcriptional activators or nuclear receptors to promote gene expression, likely by associating with RNA polymerase II and facilitating pre-initiation complex formation. MED13 may form a sub-complex with MED12, cyclin C, and CDK8, which can negatively regulate transactivation by mediator.
