Target Information

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family, which regulates diverse cellular processes such as cell growth, differentiation, mitotic cycle, and oncogenic transformation. This receptor-type PTP has extracellular, transmembrane, and intracellular catalytic domains. The mouse homolog is mainly expressed in the brain and interacts with MAP kinases, influencing their activity and localization. The rat counterpart is regulated by nerve growth factor, suggesting a role in neuronal growth and differentiation.
