Product Specific Information
This peptide corresponds to 18 amino acids near the carboxy terminus of human RNF168.
PEP-0852 can be used as a blocking peptide with polyclonal antibody PA5-20738.
Target Information
RNF168 is a chromatin-associated RING finger protein acting as a ubiquitin ligase both in vitro and in vivo. It targets histones H2A and H2AX, forming K63 polyubiquitin chains.
Upon DNA double-strand breaks, RNF168 is recruited to damage sites, co-localizing with γH2AX and 53BP1 in an RNF8-dependent manner. This process increases local ubiquitinated protein concentration, facilitating retention of 53BP1 and BRCA1, and promoting downstream DNA repair signaling.
RNF168 thus defines a pathway showing functional cooperation between E3 ligases in genome maintenance. At least three isoforms of RNF168 are known to exist.
