Description:
The MQ2-13A5 antibody reacts with human interleukin-6 (IL-6), a 21–28 kDa cytokine secreted by various cell types.

Applications Reported:
Reported for use in intracellular staining followed by flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Pre-titrated and tested for intracellular staining and flow cytometry using stimulated normal human peripheral blood cells and the Intracellular Fixation and Permeabilization Buffer Set (Product # 88-8824-00).
Recommended use: 5 µL (0.06 µg) per test (final volume 100 µL).
Cell number range: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.

Light Sensitivity:
This tandem dye is sensitive to photo-induced oxidation. Protect vial and stained samples from light.

Fixation:
Samples can be stored in IC Fixation Buffer (Product # 00-8222-49) or 1-step Fix/Lyse Solution (Product # 00-5333-54) for up to 3 days at 4°C in the dark with minimal impact on brightness and FRET efficiency.

Target Information

IL-6 encodes a cytokine involved in inflammation and B-cell maturation. This protein acts as an endogenous pyrogen and is expressed at sites of acute and chronic inflammation. It signals through the interleukin 6 receptor alpha and is implicated in various inflammatory diseases such as diabetes mellitus and systemic juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. Elevated IL-6 levels are also observed in viral infections, including COVID-19.
