Antibody detects endogenous levels of total Cytochrome P450 2B6.
Target Information
The CYP2B6 gene encodes a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily of enzymes. These monooxygenases catalyze reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids, and other lipids. The protein localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum and its expression is induced by phenobarbital. CYP2B6 metabolizes xenobiotics such as the anti-cancer drugs cyclophosphamide and ifosphamide. Transcript variants have been described, but it remains unclear whether these are produced by CYP2B6 or a closely related pseudogene, CYP2B7. Both genes are located within a cluster of cytochrome P450 genes on chromosome 19q.
