Glutamate dehydrogenase (GluD1)는 미토콘드리아 매트릭스 효소로, 글루타메이트를 α-케토글루타레이트와 암모니아로 산화적 탈아민화하는 반응을 촉매합니다.
이 효소는 아미노산에 의한 인슐린 분비 조절에 중요한 역할을 하며, ADP에 의해 활성화되고 GTP 및 ATP에 의해 억제됩니다.
이 유전자에서 활성화 돌연변이는 선천성 고인슐린혈증의 주요 원인 중 하나입니다.
대체 스플라이싱을 통해 여러 전사 변이체가 생성되며, 인간 X 염색체상의 관련 Glutamate dehydrogenase 2 유전자는 역전사 전이에 의해 유래한 용해성 형태를 암호화합니다.
