Target Information
STK4 (MST1) is a serine/threonine kinase involved in apoptosis and chromatin condensation. It functions as a stress-activated, pro-apoptotic kinase that, after caspase cleavage, translocates to the nucleus to induce chromatin condensation and DNA fragmentation.
STK4 is a key component of the Hippo signaling pathway, which regulates organ size and tumor suppression by restricting proliferation and promoting apoptosis. Within this pathway, STK3/MST2 and STK4/MST1, in complex with SAV1, phosphorylate and activate LATS1/2, which subsequently phosphorylates and inactivates YAP1 and WWTR1/TAZ, controlling genes related to cell proliferation, death, and migration.
