Antibody detects endogenous levels of MYPT1/2 only when phosphorylated at Ser668/Ser618.


Target Information

Myosin phosphatase target subunit 1 (MYPT1), also known as the myosin-binding subunit of myosin phosphatase, is one of the subunits of myosin phosphatase.
Myosin phosphatase regulates the interaction of actin and myosin downstream of the guanosine triphosphatase Rho.
The active form of RhoA (GTP.RhoA) interacts with the myosin-binding subunit (MBS) of myosin phosphatase, controlling the extent of phosphorylation of myosin light chain (MLC).
Rho-associated kinase (Rho-kinase), activated by GTP.RhoA, phosphorylates MBS and consequently inactivates myosin phosphatase.
Overexpression or activation of RhoA increases phosphorylation of MBS and MLC, indicating that Rho inhibits myosin phosphatase through Rho-kinase.
Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
