PLSCR3는 칼슘 이온 결합 시 인지질의 ATP 비의존적 양방향 이동을 매개하여 세포막 인지질 비대칭성을 손실시키는 역할을 합니다. 이는 섬유소 응고 형성, 비만세포 활성화, 그리고 대식세포계에 의한 세포 인식 과정에 관여할 수 있습니다. 또한, 미토콘드리아 내막의 cardiolipin을 외막으로 이동시켜 BID 단백질의 결합을 촉진하고, tBid에 의한 미토콘드리아 손상을 강화하여 세포자멸사(apoptosis)에 관여하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
