CD11R1 (ITGAM) may be involved in systemic lupus erythematosus 6 (SLEB6), a chronic, relapsing, inflammatory, and often febrile multisystemic disorder of connective tissue. It is characterized by involvement of the skin, joints, kidneys, and serosal membranes, and is thought to represent a failure of the autoimmune regulatory mechanisms. Disease susceptibility may be associated with variations affecting the gene represented in this entry.
