Target Information
Zika virus (ZIKV), a member of the Flaviviridae family, contains a single positive-sense RNA genome that is initially translated as a single polyprotein. This polyprotein is post-translationally cleaved into three structural proteins (C, PrM/M, and E) and seven nonstructural (NS) proteins (NS1, NS2A, NS2B, NS3, NS4A, NS4B, and NS5).
The glycosylated NS1 forms a homodimer inside cells, essential for viral replication and late infection stages. NS1 is also secreted extracellularly as a hexameric lipoprotein particle, aiding immune evasion and pathogenesis by interacting with innate and adaptive immune system components.
