Product Specific Information
MA3-067 recognizes both prenylated and non-prenylated Rab9 from canine, human, monkey, rat, hamster, and bovine tissues. This antibody does not cross-react with other Rab family members.
It has been successfully used in Western blot, immunofluorescence, EM immunocytochemistry, and immunoprecipitation. In Western blot analysis, it detects an approximately 26 kDa Rab9 protein from K562 cell extract.
The immunogen for MA3-067 is recombinant canine Rab9a.
Target Information
Rab proteins are Ras-like GTPases involved in intracellular protein transport. Members of the Rab family mediate docking and fusion of transport vesicles between cellular compartments.
Rab9 is essential for trafficking mannose 6-phosphate receptor between the late endosome and the trans-Golgi network (TGN). By facilitating receptor transport, Rab9 enables efficient recycling of cellular trafficking components.
Rab9 requires prenylation by two 20-carbon geranylgeranyl groups at its C-terminus for function. Most prenylated Rab9 is membrane-bound, but 10–20% exists in the cytosol bound to GDP dissociation inhibitor-alpha (GDI-alpha), which recycles Rab9 between membranes.
