  • This antibody is designed to recognize the whole protein as coded by NP_036424.2 and will not recognize the peptide found eluted from HLA-A 0201 molecules by den Haan et al. (Science, 1998 Feb 13;279(5353):1054-7, PMID: 9461441).
  • Tested in Peptide ELISA: antibody detection limit dilution 1:128,000.

Target Information

HMHA1 contains a GTPase activator for the Rho-type GTPases (RhoGAP) domain, which can negatively regulate the actin cytoskeleton and cell spreading. The N-terminal BAR-domain can exert an autoinhibitory effect on RhoGAP activity. It is a precursor of the histocompatibility antigen HA-1, one of the minor histocompatibility antigens (mHags) that can elicit immune responses when complexed with MHC molecules.

Minor histocompatibility antigens are peptides derived from polymorphic intracellular proteins. When bound to MHC class I or II molecules and expressed on the cell surface, they can stimulate T-cell responses, potentially triggering graft rejection or graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation from HLA-identical donors.

Mismatch of mHag HA-1 is associated with severe GVHD following HLA-identical bone marrow transplantation (BMT). HA-1 is presented by MHC class I HLA-A*0201 and other HLA-A alleles, eliciting cytotoxic T-lymphocyte (CTL) reactivity against hematologic malignancies post-transplant.
