Product Specific Information
Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
FTH1 is the heavy subunit of ferritin, the major intracellular iron storage protein in prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It consists of 24 subunits of heavy and light ferritin chains.
Variation in ferritin subunit composition may affect iron uptake and release rates in different tissues.
Ferritin functions to store iron in a soluble and nontoxic form.
Defects in ferritin proteins are associated with several neurodegenerative diseases.
This gene has multiple pseudogenes, and several alternatively spliced transcript variants have been observed, though their biological validity has not been determined.
