Product Specific Information

For reconstitution, add 100 µL of distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step (e.g., Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

The tumor suppressor protein p53 is a sequence-specific transcription factor activated by cellular stress. It mediates cell cycle arrest or apoptosis in response to DNA damage or nutrient deprivation.
p53 regulates transcription of genes such as p21waf1, contributing to G1 or G2/M arrest. Structurally, p53 includes:

  • N-terminal transactivation domain
  • Central DNA-binding domain
  • Oligomerisation domain
  • C-terminal regulatory domain

Phosphorylation at Ser15 is critical for activation and stabilization, while Ser392 phosphorylation is associated with tumor formation.
p53 plays a key role in preventing proliferation of damaged cells and acts as an anticancer agent. It is also linked to aging, oxidative stress, and learning deficits due to LTP impairment.
Mutations in TP53 lead to loss of tumor suppressor function and are common in many human cancers, including germline mutations in Li-Fraumeni syndrome.
