This antibody detects endogenous levels of total SLC9A7.

Target Information

Na⁺/H⁺ exchangers (NHE) are plasma membrane intrinsic proteins mediating exchange of Na⁺ and H⁺ ions across various tissues. They play a vital role in:

• Regulation of intracellular pH (pHi)
• Trans-cellular Na⁺ absorption
• Cell volume regulation
• Potential involvement in cell proliferation

These functions are associated with pathophysiological states such as hypertension, organ growth and hypertrophy, cancer regression, and renal intestinal disorders.
At least seven NHE isoforms (NHE1–7) have been cloned, sharing similar primary structures with 10–12 predicted transmembrane domains.
NHE7 (human, 725 aa, chromosome Xp11.4) is ubiquitously expressed and mainly localized to the trans-Golgi network, mediating Na⁺ or K⁺ influx in exchange for H⁺. It shares ~70% similarity with NHE6 and ~25% with other NHE isoforms.
