Target Information
Transcription factor predominantly involved in transcriptional repression. Binds to promoter/enhancer response elements containing imperfect 5'-AGGTCA-3' repeats recognized by other nuclear hormone receptors. Modulates hormonal responses and represses transcriptional activity of several genes including LHCGR, REN, and OXT. Represses thyroid hormone receptor gene activity in a cell type-specific manner, inhibits NFATC transcription factor DNA binding, and represses IL-17 expression in Th-17 CD4(+) T cells. Plays a role in forebrain circadian clock development and is required early in the development of the locus coeruleus (LC).
