Target Information
This gene is a metastasis suppressor gene that inhibits metastases of melanomas and breast carcinomas without affecting tumorigenicity. The encoded protein may inhibit chemotaxis and invasion, thereby attenuating metastasis in malignant melanomas.
It may regulate events downstream of cell-matrix adhesion, possibly involving cytoskeletal reorganization.
Kisspeptin stimulates gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH)-induced gonadotropin secretion and regulates pubertal activation of GnRH neurons.
A polymorphism in the terminal exon results in two protein isoforms; the absence of a specific adenosine leads to a longer protein by seven amino acids.
