Target Information
Neuropilin 1 (NRP1) is a 923 amino acid membrane-bound coreceptor belonging to the neuropilin family. It contains two CUB domains, two F5/8 type C domains, and a MAM domain. NRP1 forms a heterodimer with NRP2 and binds to plexin (PLXNB1) to form semaphorin receptors. It is predominantly expressed in the nervous system and plays roles in cardiovascular development, angiogenesis, axon guidance, neuronal circuit formation, cell survival, neuronal migration, and organogenesis. Additionally, NRP1 acts as a receptor for semaphorins and VEGF, regulating VEGF-induced angiogenesis. It may be involved in aggressive prostate carcinoma and breast cancer progression.
