Product Specific Information

  • No cross-reactivity with recombinant mouse SOST observed in direct ELISA and Western blot.
  • Reconstitute at 0.5 mg/mL in sterile PBS.

Target Information

Sclerostin is a glycoprotein mainly secreted by osteocytes and belongs to the Cerberus/DAN family of BMP antagonists. It acts as an endogenous regulator of the canonical Wnt signaling pathway and plays a key role in bone homeostasis.
Though primarily expressed by osteocytes, sclerostin is also found in bone, bone marrow, cartilage, kidney, and liver, and produced by hypertrophic chondrocytes and cementocytes.
It interacts with LRP5, LRP6, and LRP4 to inhibit Wnt signaling and can promote osteoclast activity via RANKL expression.
Mutations causing reduced sclerostin levels lead to bone overgrowth disorders such as sclerosteosis and van Buchem disease (VBD).
