Target Information

LIPG (Lipase G, Endothelial type) is an endothelial lipase and a member of the lipoprotein lipase gene family. It is synthesized by endothelial cells and functions locally to modulate lipoprotein metabolism. Overexpression of LIPG reduces HDL cholesterol levels, while deficiency increases HDL levels in animals. LIPG exhibits phospholipase activity and plays a role in lipid metabolism and vascular biology. It belongs to the triglyceride lipase family, characterized by a lid region conferring substrate specificity. LIPG hydrolyzes high-density lipoproteins, emulsifies triglycerides, and is essential for dietary fat digestion and heparin binding.
