Target Information
Ribosomes are organelles that catalyze protein synthesis, consisting of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit composed of 4 RNA species and approximately 80 distinct proteins.
The RPL34 gene encodes a ribosomal protein component of the 60S subunit, belonging to the L34E family, and is located in the cytoplasm.
Originally thought to be located at 17q21, it has been mapped to 4q. Transcript variants from alternative splicing or transcription initiation encode the same protein. Multiple processed pseudogenes exist throughout the genome.
