MA5-11869 reacts with all six known vertebrate isoforms of actin (MW ~42 kDa), including two cytoplasmic actins (beta and gamma) that differ from muscle actins by approximately 25 amino acid residues.
This antibody is highly recommended for monitoring total protein load on Western blots.

For formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues, boil sections in 10 mM citrate buffer (pH 6.0) for 10–20 minutes, then cool at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Suggested positive controls: HeLa cells and skeletal muscle.

MA5-11869 is a suggested replacement for Product #82353, clone #C4.

Actin is a ubiquitous protein forming filaments that constitute a major part of the cytoskeleton.
Actin filaments interact with myosin to facilitate muscle contraction, cell motility, and cytokinesis.
In vertebrates, actin isoforms are classified as alpha, beta, and gamma:

• Alpha actins: Found in muscle tissues, key in contractile apparatus
• Beta and gamma actins: Present in most cell types, mediating cytoskeletal organization and internal motility
