Target Information
Tyrosine phosphorylation plays a key role in mitogenic signal transduction from transmembrane receptors and transformation by oncogene tyrosine kinases. Phosphorylation of specific tyrosine residues is a primary mechanism of signal transduction during normal mitogenesis, cell cycle progression, and oncogenic transformation. Its involvement in differentiation and gap junction communication remains an active area of research.
Antibodies that specifically recognize phosphorylated tyrosine residues are invaluable for studying tyrosine-phosphorylated proteins and related biochemical pathways. The fluorescein (FITC) conjugate of clone PY20 anti-phosphotyrosine is particularly useful for detecting P-Tyr proteins in immunohistochemical and immunocytochemical assays, especially when secondary antibody use could interfere with detection.
