Target Information
Interleukin 6 receptor (IL6R), also known as CD126, is a type I cytokine receptor and a subunit of the IL6 receptor complex. IL6 is a potent cytokine regulating cell growth and immune response. The IL6 receptor complex includes IL6R and the signal transducer IL6ST (GP130). Dysregulated IL6/IL6R expression is associated with diseases such as multiple myeloma, autoimmune disorders, and prostate cancer. Alternatively spliced isoforms and a pseudogene on chromosome 9 have been reported.
