Cactin은 TLR 신호 전달의 새로운 음성 조절 인자로, MHC Class III 유전자 수준에서 조절 기능을 보이는 것으로 알려져 있습니다. 핵(nucleus)에 위치하며 TLR 신호 억제 효과를 발현하는 데 중요합니다. 과발현 시 NF-κB 및 interferon-regulatory factor 전사 인자의 활성화를 억제하고 TLR 반응성 유전자 발현을 감소시킵니다. 또한 IkB-like 단백질과 상호작용하며, 염색체 6의 MHC Class III 영역에 인코딩된 다른 단백질을 표적화하는 것으로 보고되었습니다.
