Target Information
STRAP is a 350 amino acid MAP activator with WD-40 repeats localized in both cytoplasm and nucleus. It acts as an inhibitor of TGF-beta signaling and regulates cell proliferation. Stable expression activates the MAPK/ERK pathway and down-regulates p21 (Cip1), leading to retinoblastoma protein hyperphosphorylation. Upregulation of STRAP may contribute to early tumor development, particularly in colorectal cancer. It is also a key component in U snRNP assembly associated with the SMN complex, influencing intracellular SMN1 distribution.
