Target Information
STRAP is a 350 amino acid MAP activator with WD-40 repeats localized in both the cytoplasm and nucleus. It acts as an inhibitor of TGF-beta signaling and regulates cell proliferation. Stable expression of STRAP activates the MAPK/ERK pathway and downregulates p21 (Cip1), leading to retinoblastoma protein hyperphosphorylation. Upregulation may contribute to early tumor development, particularly in colorectal cancers. STRAP also associates with the SMN complex and plays a crucial role in intracellular SMN1 distribution.
