Target Information
Nuclear transport receptors of the karyopherin/importin-beta superfamily mediate various transport pathways between the nucleus and cytoplasm. Exportin-4 is a novel mammalian member of this family and a RanGTP-binding protein consisting of an N-terminal RanGTP-binding motif. It functions as a nuclear export receptor for eIF-5A and may act as an export adapter in RNA export. It is also involved in nuclear export of Smad3 and regulation of Smad signaling.
