Target Information
Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases with diverse physiological functions. Many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and may serve as novel cancer and disease biomarkers. The Kallikrein 1 gene is part of a cluster of fifteen kallikrein subfamily members on chromosome 19. This protein releases the vasoactive peptide Lys-bradykinin from low molecular weight kininogen.
