Product Specific Information
- This antibody does not react with Mouse or Rat.
- For immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
E-Cadherin (epithelial cadherin) is a classical cadherin from the cadherin (calcium-dependent adhesion protein) superfamily. It is a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein with five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail.
Mutations in CDH1 are associated with various cancers including gastric, breast, colorectal, thyroid, and ovarian cancer. Loss of E-Cadherin function contributes to tumor progression by promoting proliferation, invasion, and metastasis.
E-Cadherin plays a crucial role in maintaining tissue architecture and integrity, and is encoded by the CDH1 gene on chromosome 16.
