Target Information
LIPG (Lipase G, Endothelial type) is an endothelial lipase and a member of the lipoprotein lipase gene family. It is synthesized by endothelial cells and functions at the site of synthesis, playing a physiological role in modulating lipoprotein metabolism. Overexpression of LIPG reduces HDL cholesterol levels, while deficiency elevates HDL levels in animals. LIPG exhibits phospholipase activity and contributes to lipoprotein metabolism and vascular biology. It belongs to the TG lipase family, characterized by a lid region that confers substrate specificity. LIPG acts as a carboxyl esterase, hydrolyzing high-density lipoproteins, emulsifying triglycerides, and facilitating efficient digestion of dietary fats. It can bind to heparin.
