Target Information

STK17B (DRAK2) is a member of the serine/threonine kinase family related to death-associated protein kinase, which triggers apoptosis.
It plays a critical role in T-cell survival and is a potential therapeutic target for autoimmune diseases.
Deficiency or inhibition of STK17B can influence autoimmune disease susceptibility without general immune suppression.

Protein kinases are key players in signal transduction responding to various stimuli. Overexpression of related kinases such as ZIP kinase induces apoptotic morphology in NIH 3T3 cells.
Sanjo et al. identified DRAK1 and DRAK2 (Death Receptor Associated Kinases 1 and 2), which share significant homology with ZIP kinase and DAP kinase.
The C-terminal domain of DRAKs is important for induction of apoptosis.
