Target Information
TSC22 domain family protein (TSC22) is a transcription factor belonging to the early response gene family. It acts as a transcriptional repressor on the C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP) promoter and is part of the TSC-22/Dip/Bun family. This intracellular protein is found in the cytoplasm or nucleus and regulates cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis. TSC22 modulates transcriptional activity of Smad3 and Smad4, and is expressed ubiquitously in fetal and adult tissues, notably in aortic endothelial cells. It is induced by cytokines such as TGFB and may serve as a potential therapeutic target in leukemia and prostate cancer.
