AMPK beta-1는 AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK)의 조절 서브유닛으로, AMPK는 α 촉매 서브유닛과 β, γ 비촉매 서브유닛으로 구성된 헤테로삼합체이다. AMPK는 세포 에너지 상태를 감지하는 중요한 효소로, 대사 스트레스에 반응하여 활성화되며, 지방산 및 콜레스테롤 생합성에 관여하는 ACC와 HMGCR을 인산화하여 억제한다.
