Target Information
RPS6KA5 (MSK1) is a serine/threonine protein kinase essential for regulating various cellular processes. It mediates mitogen- or stress-induced phosphorylation of transcription factors such as CREB1, ATF1, RELA, STAT3, and ETV1/ER81. MSK1 contributes to gene activation via histone phosphorylation and regulates inflammatory gene expression. It plays a key role in controlling RELA transcriptional activity in response to TNF and glucocorticoid signaling, associates with NR3C1 in the cytoplasm, and represses inflammatory gene expression. In skeletal myoblasts, it is required for RELA phosphorylation at Ser-276 during oxidative stress, and in erythropoietin-stimulated cells, it mediates Ser-727 phosphorylation of STAT3 for transcriptional regulation.
