EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor)는 다양한 성장인자에 반응하는 수용체 티로신 키나제로, 여러 암종에서 과발현되는 것으로 알려져 있습니다. EGFR은 인간 염색체 7에 위치한 EGFR 유전자에 의해 암호화되며, HER/ERbB 패밀리(ERbB2, ERbB3, ERbB4)에 속합니다. EGF나 TGF-α와 같은 리간드 결합 시 EGFR은 이합체를 형성하고, 세포질 영역의 티로신 잔기들이 자가 인산화되어 신호전달을 매개합니다. 과발현은 두경부, 뇌, 방광, 위, 유방, 폐, 자궁내막, 자궁경부, 난소 등 다양한 종양에서 관찰됩니다.
