PA1-748 detects vanilloid receptor 1 (VR1) from human bladder and skin.
It has been successfully used in immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry procedures.
- In human glabrous skin, staining is observed in epidermal and dermal cells, free nerve fibers, and Merkel cells.
- In human prostatic urethra, fibrous staining is seen within epithelial cells.
The immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues T(7) D L G A A A D P L Q K D T C(21) of human VR1.
The PA1-748 immunizing peptide (Cat. # PEP-202) is available for neutralization and control experiments.
Target Information
TRPV1 (Transient Receptor Potential Cation Channel Subfamily V Member 1)
TRPV1 is a receptor for capsaicin, the main pungent ingredient in hot chili peppers, and elicits a burning pain sensation by activating sensory neurons.
It is a non-selective cation channel related to the TRP family (e.g., TRPC3, TRPC6) and is permeable to calcium, magnesium, sodium, and potassium ions.
Structurally, TRPV1 contains:
- 6 transmembrane domains
- A P-loop membrane domain
- 3 ankyrin repeat domains
TRPV1 is activated by noxious heat and may function as a transducer of painful thermal stimuli. It mediates proton influx and may contribute to intracellular acidosis in nociceptive neurons. Expression is primarily within sensory ganglia neurons.
