DUSP5 유전자가 암호화하는 단백질은 dual specificity protein phosphatase 하위군에 속하며, phosphoserine/threonine 및 phosphotyrosine 잔기를 탈인산화하여 표적 키나아제를 불활성화합니다. 이 단백질은 ERK1을 비활성화하며, 췌장과 뇌에서 높은 수준으로 발현되고 핵에 위치합니다. MAP kinase 신호 경로의 음성 조절자로서 세포 증식 및 분화에 관여합니다.
