MAPK8 (JNK1)는 소포체 내 잘못 접힌 단백질의 존재에 의해 활성화됩니다. 인슐린 저항성과 비만의 중요한 매개체로 작용하며, 스트레스 활성화 단백질 키나아제(MAPK) 계열에 속합니다.
MAPKs는 다양한 외부 자극에 반응하는 Serine-threonine protein kinase로, 세포 표면에서 핵으로의 신호전달을 매개합니다.
JNK는 세포 증식, 분화, 전사 조절 및 발달 등 다양한 세포 과정에 관여하며, 스트레스 및 염증 신호에 의해 활성화됩니다.
JNK는 mRNA 스플라이싱에 의해 10가지 이상의 isoform으로 발현되며, 주요 형태는 JNK1과 JNK2입니다.
